A planning system runs overnight and produces a beautiful plan. By Tuesday the plan is fiction, because a customer tripled an order and a supplier's castings slipped three days, and neither event was in the forecast. We have argued in this series that the deeper fix is a shift from plans to policies: from one fixed answer for one imagined future, to a way of deciding that keeps working as the situation changes. And we were careful about something worth repeating, which is that a better forecast changes what you know, not how you decide. Both things are true, and this is still the right place to start. It is the step you can take this quarter with data already sitting in your ERP, and it makes the rest possible, because you cannot simulate uncertainty you have never measured. Before you can test a policy against the range of futures it will meet, something has to tell you what that range looks like.So here is the least glamorous and most immediately useful idea in the series: a forecast

Hello Celonis Community,I recently completed an independent empirical study exploring a question that I believe could be relevant to the future of Process Intelligence:Can the principles of process mining be extended beyond conventional enterprise workflows to analyze the execution behavior of autonomous AI agents?Using Celonis and execution traces from WildClawBench V4, I investigated how agent activity sequences, tool interactions, and explicitly flagged execution errors could be reconstructed and analyzed through a process-mining approach.Research scope 720 AI-agent executions 35,771 recorded events 12 AI models 6 task categories Process reconstruction, model-level comparisons, and exploratory early-warning evaluation What did the research find?1. Process observability: AI-agent execution traces could be represented and investigated through a process-mining framework, making execution paths, tool interactions, and flagged errors more interpretable.2. Behavioral differences:

Have you already played around with the Agent Tools asset in Studio? It lets you expose your governed Celonis data - KPIs, records, insights - through tools that an external AI agent can call via the open MCP standard. So instead of guessing, your agent just asks Celonis. My favourite little detail: the description you write for each tool is what the agent actually reads to decide whether to use it. So treat it like a mini prompt, not a label. Write it well, and the agent picks exactly the right tool, first time. ✨(And by the way, if you want the full end-to-end: we just launched a course on exactly this 👀)What would you let an agent reason over first? Comment below!

Building a basic automation is a great start - but handling complex, real-world data is where things get interesting. In the "Master Data Wrangling in Action Flows" case study, we tackle a common hurdle: processing multiple user inputs simultaneously. While the course guides you through a functional solution for a “Currency Converter”, it leaves you with a final architectural puzzle to solve on your own.The Challenge: Efficiency vs. Effort ⚙️The standard setup fires a separate HTTP request for every single currency selected. We want to see if you can build a more efficient "Version 2.0":Can you clean the data string before it hits the HTTP module? Can you consolidate the logic to send one single request for all currencies at once?👇 Join the discussionThis is your anchor post to share your findings and compare notes with others:Share a screenshot of your optimized logic (especially how you handled the string cleaning). Hi Community,It’s been a while since I had the opportunity to explore Celonis EMS in detail, and while catching up on some of the recent developments, I came across a new asset called “Chain of Thought” in the Studio space.I’m curious to understand more about this asset and its potential applications, particularly from a Process Intelligence perspective.I’d love to hear from the community on:What are the key capabilities and benefits of the Chain of Thought asset? In what scenarios or use cases have you found it particularly useful? How does it complement or enhance Process Intelligence within Celonis? Are there any practical examples, learnings, or limitations you’ve encountered while working with it?If anyone has explored or implemented this asset, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences, use cases, and thoughts.Looking forward to an insightful discussion! Thanks,Akshay

Hello, I am doing my masters dissertation on process mining and want to ask about evaluation methods. Does anyone know any suitable methods or frameworks to evaluate celonis or compare it with other tools? Thank you

Hello, I am working on a masters thesis using Celonis for process mining. I need to evaluate the tool and the process model it generates but I am unable to find a suitable framework on how to do that. Does anyone know any ways to evaluate the tool for an academic dissertation? any papers to read or tips will be appreciated. Thank you

Has anyone developed a framework for creating a Universal Health Scorecard for business processes across an organisation? I started exploring this idea after reading Keung's 2000 research paper. My goal is to develop a common framework for assessing process health, regardless of the type of business process. One challenge I face is that my company has both sequential and parallel processes. While sequential processes are relatively straightforward to analyse using ARIS CCPM, parallel processes are more challenging because a single case is broken down into multiple tasks, each with its own case ID. These tasks can still be linked through their original case ID. I believe the fundamental perspectives for assessing process health should remain consistent across processes, even if the indicators differ based on their structure and the capabilities of the process mining tool. My current perspectives, drawn from a structured literature review, are: - Time: Turnaround time (TAT)- Cost: FTE re

I hate just how limited Process Mining feels beyond the Process Explorer map. How can PM consultants be expected to identify opportunities to improve a process when the people operating it may have years of experience and a much deeper understanding of its practical realities? What unique information does Process Mining provide that materially changes the decisions those people make? I have been assigned to the Process Mining Team and have been struggling ever since to find its usefulness beyond the process map. Many of the other analyses and dashboards I build seem reproducible using regular reporting and analytics tools, which makes me question what the incremental value of Process Mining actually is. I have also struggled to find case studies that clearly explain the complete chain from a Process Mining analysis to a specific business intervention and then to a quantified business outcome. Many case studies describe the problem and the eventual improvement, but I rarely see exactly

In the previous article I described why we need two hierarchies instead of one hybrid one, so let me dive deeper into what I mean by that. What is a process hierarchy?First and foremost, let’s define this and one of the most important topics here is the naming. Some people call it a process hierarchy, others call it a process framework and even some people call it a process structure, however it all comes down to the same very thing: a process hierarchy is a structured approach to collect and sort the various domains, sub domains and single business processes in order to be able to describe the way of working of your organisation with a minimum (preferably no) redundancy. As this is quite the statement, let’s unpack it.First it deals with a structured approach and this is also the most complicated topic. The challenge that organisations have to deal with is that all of the content that you document using a BPM tool has two purposes:(1) It needs to be created / maintain(2) It needs to be

Hi everyone,During data extraction, I would like to convert a string field into a datetime format. The original field format is: 2024-12-09I would like to convert it to the following format: 2024-12-09 00:00:00.Does anyone have any idea how I could do this?I would really appreciate your help. Thank you! 😊

I’ve got a KPI requiring to check whether a user is active in a certain timeframe based on a column in a table. In the event a user is inactive, it will count against the KPI. For example, if a user is active in January and February but not in March, the KPI would calculate to a 67% usage rate. I’ve figured out I can use the TIMELINE_TABLE function to map out when users are inactive. The issue I’m running into is filtering on the timeline table. I wind up getting an error message and I’m not sure how to troubleshoot it after reading through the documentation. When I select a specific user or time period, this error populates. I was using the formula template [ “TIMELINE_TABLE”().’Column Name’ ] for dimensions, but once I select a dimension or the timestamp column, I receive the above error. Any help would be fantastic!
