In Ingka (IKEA), we went through a process recently of assessing the players in the Process Intelligence space. This took a series of steps:

Analysis and calls with Gartner, to understand some more detail behind the Magic Quadrant

A questionnaire to selected vendors we wanted to assess

An assessment of the questionnaire responses to guide the conversations when we met one on one (looking at capability, cost, how we interacted, technical feasibility etc)

A 3 hour session with each vendor (we chose 7 at this stage)

A down selection to a smaller set for the second stage (we went for 4)

Provided data and background for the vendors to show what they could do with our data and current level of understanding

A whole day assessment of each vendor looking at our data

A final down selection to the preferred vendor

Then the contract negotiation started

It was a 4 month process, we ended up collecting about 9,000 data points which went towards the final selection.

We built something completely in house. There wasn’t a standard framework applied.
