I am trying to do dynamic filtering using a variable. I have another variable which checks for date. When I try to use, it gives my date error as it doesn't recognize the variable as treats that as string.

to my knowledge there is no solution allowing you to keep the input as DATE.
Possibly, you could try to convert everything to STRING (and transform it back to DATE wherever needed in other formulas).
