Hello, Celopeers! This is my first attempt at what will (hopefully) evolve into a series best-practice forum posts. If you have any questions about anything I share here, please do not hesitate to ask. I also encourage you to follow along with this post, so please log in to the EMS!
In my four years here at Celonis, I've asked (and have been asked) many, many questions about our platform and its capabilities. The top 5 questions I've seen (and continue to see) asked are:
- Can we establish a connection to source system ABC-123? How do we do this? Is there a step-by-step guide?
- How can we manage access to our team? Is there a step-by-step guide to setting up SSO?
- Do we have a PQL function that can do XYZ? Are there examples of function input and output?
- What are our options for editing a specific component in our analysis?
- What features of the Celonis EMS are currently available? Can you tell us about them?
I'm happy to say that the answers to these questions (any many more which are not written here) are answered in the Celonis EMS Help Space. This is a constantly-updated knowledge base available on every EMS team. It can be accessed it in one of a few ways:
- Append /help/ to the team URL. I.e. https://your-team-name.realm.celonis.cloud/help/, where the realm is us-1, us-2, eu-1, etc.
- Upon logging into the EMS, click on the circle in the upper-right-hand-corner which contains the first letter of your first name. Then, click on "Help Resources".
- On any page of the EMS, click on the "?" icon in the lower-right-hand-corner of the screen.
Let's break down the landing page.
- In the middle of the page is a search bar. If I wanted to find the step-by-step guide for provisioning SSO on my EMS team, for example, I could search for "sso" here.
- On the left-hand-side of the page is a page tree. This is the point of entry into each feature of the Celonis EMS. Clicking into any one of these links brings one to the feature's landing page. If I wanted to find out how Celonis' Event Collection module works and subsequently set up a connection to SAP, for example, I would click on "Event Collection" and then look for the "SAP ECC and S/4 HANA Connection" under "Quick Links Data Connections".
To emphasize one point: this documentation is written in a self-service manner. Meaning that, by following each step outlined, you will be able to accomplish your goal without the need for contacting Celonis Customer Support. That said, we are constantly looking for feedback on our documentation. If something is missing, or if you have a suggestion for how to improve the documentation, please reach out to servicedesk@celonis.com.
To end off this post - I would ask that you try to answer the five questions I posed above using the help documentation. It's a great exercise that will start you on your journey to Celonis self-sufficiency!
