CoE - Center of Excellence: Building a CoE for Celonis initiatives is a key action to ensure:

  • Governance: Alignment with executives, prioritisation of initiatives, etc.
  • Deployment: Adequate Data Analytics / Engineering skills
  • Value: Follow the Path to Value methodology across departments and use cases
  • Enablement: Train users as you expand your use cases and increase the volume of users

The following document and template cover Celonis best practices to initiate and setup a CoE based on the needs of your organisation.

Hope it helps, keen to get your views.

Hey Miguel,

As someone who has been working in a CoE for almost a year, most documentation is very relatable and accurate. Thanks for some insights into what other methodologies are for setting up the CoE's! One question, why are you specifically counting the SME's as part of the CoE instead of having them within the business units you are supporting as a CoE?

Kind Regards,

Maurits

Hi @1460069522 ,

Thanks for your comments and apologise for the late response.

This is a good question: you can actually see it in both ways:

  • SMEs as part of the CoE: Close to the rest of Celonis team (analysts, engineers, CoE Lead). You would like this person to have a full or part-time assignment to the Celonis initiative and a very good network to the process owners / stakeholders in the process. This will be helpful for getting the buy-in of the value owner (e.g. Process Owner) in the process & creating new assets (actionboards, flows, etc.) for processes and sharing knowledge.
  • SMEs as part of the Process Team / Users: Like a “super user”, also bridges the gap, and it is assigned the responsibility for value realization on the specific process. Then the outcome is similar, but the CoE team scope is more limited to the technical implementation. whist in first bullet, the scope is also in driving value, and business transformation.

Makes sense for you?

thanks,

Hi @miguel.galna Could you please advise why there is no need for solution architect or Technical architect in the COE setup.
