Hey Julia,
we are changing material master data through some action flows.
What questions do you have?
Best,
Daniel
Hello Daniel!
Thanks for reaching out.
I'm currently investigating the possibility to directly change material master data via an AF. We only have an EMS connection to our productive ERP system. So the first quesiton would be if you have a productive and a testing environment connection to your ERP with Celonis?
As, currently, I only have access to the productive landscape, testing might be more risky as direct changes are made in the productive ERP. If you have the same setting at your company, it would be of course very interesting to know how the testing process of the AF prior to the Go-Live was made and if there are any prerequistes that need to be taken care of (e.g. security topics etc.). Did you, for example, select a pilot material number and the test the changes that you wanted to implement with the AF?
Thanks for your input!

We have an SAP test environment, but that is not connected to Celonis. (Due to the data status)
Testing might be a risk in the productive system, but if you just test with one material it is pretty simple to change the field back to the inital value. Thats how we have done it in the past, and will do it in the future.
About prerequistes, it depends on the AF you would like to implement.
We identified 2 options:
Option 1: The AF changes data without interaction of the User. Meaning Celonis calculates a value for, lets say the lead time, which does not need approval of the user.
In this case we created a batch SAP User with this specific permissions.
Option 2 however is more tricky. If the User decides and if and/or what the value will be you have to check the permission if this user has the right to change this value. You can either let it be changed and check afterwards with the celonis change log and the SAP activity log. Which i do not recommend! or you will wait some time and Celonis has a solution for this. Called the dynamic connection, which basicly maps the permissions of SAP.
If you have any further questions, you´re welcome to contact me.

Thank you Daniel for the insights. I had the same idea with testing the scenario with one pilot material number in the SAP system, I just wanted to know if this is a common practice for other Celonis customers.
So thanks for pointing out the options. In my case it would be option 1.
I will start the implementation soon, if something else comes up, I'll keep your offer in mind.
