How to make automation skill input optional?

Hi,

 

Does anyone know how to make an input for an automation skill optional?

The option is greyed out for me. I would like to be able to trigger a skill using an action without having to fill fields if they are empty.

I did see this article. If I understand correctly, by definition, input from a sensor cannot be optional, correct?

If that's the case, I wonder whether there's a way around.

Do you know how I can achieve that a skill gets triggered without manual input from a user, even if there are NULL values for some of the required fields?

Thank you for your understanding.

 

To trigger a skill without manual input from a user, you can just set a default value for the fields. Then toggle on "Request manual input from user" and then "Manual input" on the fields, which should allow end users to enter a value. You can set their default values, which can be changed or left untouched.
