How were you first introduced to Celonis and Process Intelligence?
I was first introduced to Celonis and what was then known as Execution Management System whilst studying for my Masterβs degree. I was looking for a company where I could first do an internship and then write my Masterβs thesis. With the help of our career center, I came across Celonis. I was immediately fascinated by the idea of using data to understand how processes actually run, rather than how we assume they run. I was very happy when I had the opportunity to join Celonis as an intern in the Solution Engineering team (now Value Engineering) There, I was able to gain and deepen my understanding of Process Mining and experience first-hand how it can be applied to real business challenges across different industries.

How did you land your current role?
My path into my current role was strongly shaped by internships. During my time as intern at Celonis, I got to know many people and as I wasnβt able to write my thesis at Celonis, I looked for other opportunities. Fortunately, a colleague pointed me towards a vacant internship position at Lufthansa Group in the COOβs Executive Office where I could apply my skills to aviation use cases. During that time, I worked on operational use cases and saw how much potential there is in using data to improve complex airline processes. It was also here where I met my current boss, and after completing my internship and thesis, I had the opportunity to stay with Lufthansa Group and take up my current role in Operations Performance Management. Today, I work on topics around operational performance and the digital enhancement of SLA management, while continuing to use Process Intelligence for different operational use cases.

What do you consider to be your most important skill for your current role?
For me, the most important skill is the combination of analytical thinking and a strong understanding of the underlying business processes. Data can tell you what is happening, but to understand why it is happening and what you can actually improve, you need to understand the process behind it. Especially in a complex operational environment like the aviation industry with many interconnected stakeholders and processes, understanding the bigger picture is essential. For me, the real value comes from connecting these two perspectives to turn data into meaningful insights and actionable improvements.
What advice or insights could you share with others in the Talent & Career Network community?
My advice would be to stay curious and open-minded for new challenges and opportunities. You don't need to know everything about Process Intelligence from the beginning. Before my internship at Celonis, I had hardly worked with data at all, so a lot of the learning happened through actually working on use cases, talking to process experts, challenging assumptions, and experimenting with the technology. Internships were also an important part of my own journey. They allowed me to explore different perspectives, build a network, and discover what kind of work I really enjoy. And finally, you shouldnβt underestimate the importance of understanding the business behind the data. The most interesting analysis is only valuable if you can translate it into an insight or action that helps improve the actual process.
