Is there a best practice to chose a KPI (saved Formula) over a variable in Celonis (or vice versa)?
For example, I seem to recall that all KPIs are calculated upon loading the analysis? Would that make certain uses more suitable to a variable?

Hello Connor,
Not sure that I get you right but; You can use your variables on KPI ediyor like below.
Hello Connor,

Not quite - I was wondering if the choice between a saved formula/KPI and a variable change the computation load in any way on Celonis. Is analysis load speed affected by using a variable over a KPI?
In Celonis, the variables and KPI usage seem so similar to me, that I can't reason why you would pick one over the other, really. Why have both? Is there a benefit to one over the other?
Ow now I get it ok . Then someone from crew can explain the compute load topic to us.
But usage of Custom KPI and variable are a bit different I think.
You can use a variable in KPI or any formula and set a value to variable on another page or component that affects your calculation..
Dear Connor,
I am not sure about the load topic either.
But for me the difference of a variable and KPI is related to the formula you want to use.
We use KPIs always with PQL statements. Variables, however, could only include text components.
For example in a variable I can define all activities that determine changes and within a KPI I can refer to this particular variable via e.g. a case when statement to calculate how many cases or activities I have including changes.
Hope that helps to answer your question :)
Thanks Lisa,
your statement cover my gut feeling and I can keep it easy in mind.😉
