I do not understand the difference between an extractor builder and an extractor. Are both types of data connections?

For example, when making a data connection, should I look for a connector and if there is none, use an extractor, or if there is no extractor either, use the extractor builder?

Speaking without doble checking the docs, but I think extractor is the piece of software you deploy at customer premises in order to get data from internal systems into celonis. Think of it as a gateway for the data connection.

Extractor builder is a part of Celonis where you can build your own extractor to connect directly from Celonis via API. You set the url, etc....

I remember commenting with some ppl at Celonis that it was a bit misleading those two names...

Extractor Builder and Extractor Celonis are two tools that are used for extracting data from various sources for analysis purposes. However, they are different in terms of their features and functionalities.

Extractor Builder is a tool that allows you to build custom data extractors to pull data from different data sources. With Extractor Builder, you can create data extractors that are tailored to your specific needs and that can extract data from a wide variety of data sources, including databases, spreadsheets, and web services. Extractor Builder provides a simple and intuitive interface that makes it easy to create data extractors without requiring any programming knowledge.

On the other hand, Extractor Celonis is a tool that is specifically designed for extracting data from the ERP system. Extractor Celonis allows you to extract data from SAP ERP systems in real-time and use that data for process mining, process analysis, and other analytical purposes. Extractor Celonis provides pre-built extractors for the SAP ERP system, which makes it easier to extract data without requiring extensive knowledge of the ERP system.

In summary, while Extractor Builder is a more general-purpose tool that allows you to create custom data extractors from various sources, Extractor Celonis is a more specialized tool that is specifically designed for extracting data from ERP systems.
