Question

How to display a sub-process in process explorer?

Good morning, I am facing a problem where I need to display subprocesses in process explorer in Celonis. In the process, all cases have a similar path through the same steps. However, at the end of the main process, some cases continue in a subprocess. I found out that there is a function RESPECT PARALLEL PROCESS in Activtivities table. Has someone used this possibility, please? Thank you for advice. Tomas

Any chance theres a non-cloud version of this help documentation for those of us still living in the pre-cloud world?

Well, I would like to know @Tomas_K how you managed to solve your initial question with the parallel process feature. For me sub processes are processes that are currently represented as a single activity, but which actually have more activities underneath. I dont see how the parallel process feature helps with that.

Hi @joosbuijs, The parallel process feature actually helped me to improve our process explorer. Without defining of the subprocess, arrows in the process explorer were shown incorrectly as the timestamp and the sorting columns from the Activities table dont define a distinct order. I am attaching two screenshots so you can compare how it looked before and after. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Tomas after.jpg191628 16.9 KB

Hi Tomas, in addition to my last post: currently, the best practice to analyze sub-/paralellel processes regarding KPIs is the powerful function: SOURCE/ TARGET (see a very good overview here or another example here) With that function you can calculate various KPIs like cycle times and activity based attributes for the specified activities. Right now, we are working on enhancing the parent/child KPI visualization in the process explorer, so the best way to go is the SOURCE/ TARGET function. Best regards, Viana

Hi, I can confirm that the parallel process feature works and would like to share the results so others can create it by themselves.

@v.kalversberg The link that you shared is not valid anymore. Also when searching for the key words I cannot find topics on the help page anymore. Does this imply that this feature is not available anymore?

Hi Thomas, I am wondering how exactly you did this, I dont fully get how you build up the table. Can you get in touch with joost@apolix.nl to elaborate this by any chance? Thanks in advance!
