Has anyone tried replacing the On Premise Extractor to Celonis On Premise Client .have quite few questions
Hi Ramanathan,
I would recommend to write down your questions.
I have tried to replace the On Prem Extractor.
Installation & Setup was more or less straight forward but at the end were couldn't finally switch to On Premise client as not all of our SAP RFC Modules have been updated to version 3.3.0+ which is necessary to use On Premise client.

Thanks a lot Dennis for the response. Please find below my question
- Will OPC have the same functionality of Extractor?
- Once we install the OPC , does the upgrades to new version happens automatically or still we should download as in the case of Extractor(from the download portal in admin setting in EMS)
- A silly quesiton, How does the upgrade to RFC happens, because today the extractor and the RFC upgrade happens from the package in the download portal

Hi Ram,
please consider my answers as presumption as I am not able to make use of OPC so far due to old RFC Module versions:
- Yes. OPC is the official replacement of SAP Extractor. It is providing same functionallity but doing a lot of things now directly in the cloud that have been done previously on your extractor server. Therefore also the need of doing regular updates of your SAP Extractor on your extractor server is not necessary anymore.
- My guess most things will be covered automatically in the part that was now being "outsourced" from extractor server to cloud. Nevertheless I think it still might happen that from time to time some adjustments on the server part also needs to be updated but not in such a regular frequence as it was before.
- Based on my understanding OPC is not really having an impact on the RFC Modules itself. So to keep your SAP systems up-to-date you still need to check on a regular basis for new RFC Module updates and transport them into SAP as before.
Again this is just based on how I understood the new OPC.
If someone else maybe have different opinion or additional comments on my answers please let us know.

Thanks a Lot Dennis it helps a lot. few last question :)
- In case we need to update the OPC(in the server), Celonis will provide us the installable ,right?
- Any Performance gain or advantage moving to OPC?
- For updating the RFC we have to do it from the admin-->download portal ,right?

- Yes - I guess it will be the Download Portal as it was before
- As I mentioned I wasn't able to check myself and would also be interesting for me to hear some feedback from other customers. At least it sounds like the new OPC should bring some performance advantages: "There's still an on-prem component to install, but we'll make most of our updates and fixes in the cloud instead of requiring you to upgrade your local client. The cloud can also handle more data more reliably, scaling and adjusting processing capabilities based on traffic."
- Exactly. Download the newest version and update it as descibed and done before.
